For one, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of the room. It's still a great deal for those whose office or home has a lot of bare floors and you want to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and operates while you're at work or in school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. And, if you need to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few minutes. 2. IRobot Roomba X30 The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads). It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads. As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work or at night when you're trying to sleep. The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and could be confused with obstructions or power cords. It also mopses using a single pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base. The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan as well as any “no go” areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or create the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency.
